Global Engagement with Impact
Building successful cross-cultural relationships
Why the Global Engagement with Impact Workshop?
The most successful global leaders, workers and expats are those who have been able to build strong and engaging relationships across borders. We already know that they are usually very good at the technical aspects of their job; the factor that often determines the overall success of a person who is expected to work globally is how well they can relate to and work with people from different cultures. So how do we create engaging global relationships? The process of moving from a static and barely working cross-cultural relationship through to a fluid and highly productive relationship consists of three elements:
This practical workshop introduces you to each of these elements by allowing participants to explore their own situation and experiences through each of these lenses. Workshop ObjectivesUpon completion of this one-day workshop, participants will have completed a Global Engagement Development Plan to support them as they develop strong and productive cross-cultural relationships. Leaders attending this workshop will also have the opportunity to apply this framework to the development of stronger cross-cultural relationships within their team.
This is an experiential workshop, and participants are encouraged to contribute and workshop their experiences. The value of this workshop lies at the intersection of what the workshop offers and what the participant contributes. Workshop TopicsThe workshop is broken into three parts:
Session 1: Global Engagement Framework This first session explores the universal way that relationships develop, and provides the overarching framework for developing strong and productive individual and team relationships. Participants will analyse the effectiveness of their current relationships and use the following two sessions to build on their Global Engagement Development Plan Session 2: Global Self-Awareness This session explores some of the key beliefs and values that underpin a strong global mindset, resilience in the face of uncertainty and provides participants with the opportunity to self-reflect on the extent to which their personal working styles may be impacting their cross-cultural relationships. Session 3: Global Relational Awareness One of the hardest aspects of building healthy global relationships is in knowing which behaviours, tools and methods to apply, and when. In this session participants will use the Global Engagement Framework to identify the most effective way in which to deploy tools, methods and behaviours for the greatest impact in building cross-cultural relationships. AudienceLeaders responsible for leading or influencing beyond borders, or employees who are required to participate in global project teams and build strong relationships with their colleagues.
